The Alibi Chief of Ghana, Ouboya Mustapha Obungun-Bungun II, has rejected allegations that he betrayed the Greater Accra Chamba traditional leadership during the installation of the newly enskinned Chamba Chief, Ouboya Ibrahim Hudu Kuta IV.

Speaking on the controversy, Ouboya Mustapha Obungun-Bungun II said he became aware of comments made on a viral episode of the television programme "Chamba Lemi," where he said he was accused of betrayal without being given the opportunity to respond.

According to the Alibi Chief, his participation in the installation ceremony was carried out in accordance with his traditional responsibilities and authority. He argued that his involvement should not be interpreted as an act of disloyalty to the Greater Accra Chamba traditional leadership.

He further stated that the installation of a Chamba chief is a traditional obligation that should transcend internal disagreements among traditional leaders.

"We could have joined hands as chiefs to install the new Chief and still go back to deal with our differences as far as Chamba unity and development are concerned," he said.

Ouboya Mustapha Obungun-Bungun II also called on Chambas Media to issue a public apology, arguing that the programme's host, Ras Chambas, portrayed his actions as disloyal without first seeking his response. He said the programme did not present his side of the story and described the coverage as unfair.

The Alibi Chief emphasized the importance of balanced journalism, fairness, and respect for all parties when reporting on matters relating to Chamba traditional leadership. He urged media practitioners to provide equal opportunities for all stakeholders to present their views, particularly on issues affecting the unity and development of the Chamba people.

He also appealed to the Chamba community to embrace dialogue, mutual respect, and peaceful engagement as efforts continue to address differences within the traditional leadership.
