A proud moment unfolded in Accra as Yasmine Salley Iddrisu-Sika, a native of Chamba, joined 636 other newly qualified medical and dental practitioners who were formally inducted into the profession by the Medical and Dental Council (MDC).
The ceremony marked the official beginning of their professional careers after years of intensive academic work and clinical training.
Speaking at the event, Prof. Agyeman Badu Akosa, Chairman of the 11th Board of the Council, congratulated the fresh doctors and urged them to uphold the virtues of humility, empathy, and dedication. He emphasized the critical importance of the housemanship period, describing it as “the foundation upon which every successful medical career is built.”
Delivering a speech on behalf of the Minister of Health, Mr. Kwabena Minta Akandoh, the representative encouraged the inductees to maintain the highest standards of professionalism, compassion, and integrity. He appealed to the new practitioners to accept postings to all parts of the country, stressing that medicine is not merely a science, but a calling to serve humanity with empathy, humility, and moral courage.
The Registrar of the MDC, Dr. Divine Banyubala, highlighted the significance of the induction, calling it a public affirmation of competence, character, and commitment to serve with integrity and compassion.
Family members of Yasmine-Sika, who attended the ceremony, expressed immense pride in her achievement. They described her journey as deeply inspiring, noting that her determination, discipline, and academic excellence have motivated many young people within and beyond the Chamba community.
