Kuta Family Head Denounces Alleged Installation of Alhaji Ibrahim Huudu as Chamba Chief

ChambaPress

The Head of the Kuta family and kingmaker of the Chamba chieftaincy, Imam Sheikh Yosha Kuta, has rejected the reported installation of Alhaji Ibrahim Huudu, also known as Malo, as Chief of the Chamba ethnic group.

According to Imam Kuta, the ceremony, said to have taken place on March 26, 2026, was carried out without the knowledge, consent, or involvement of the Kuta family, which traditionally plays a central role in the selection and installation of a chief.

He emphasized that, as the recognized family head and kingmaker, he was not consulted at any stage of the process, describing the installation as unacceptable and not in line with established customs and procedures.

Imam Kuta has therefore called on all stakeholders, including members of the Chamba community and other interested parties, to remain calm while efforts are made to address the matter through appropriate channels.

The situation is expected to draw attention from traditional authorities and community leaders as discussions continue over the legitimacy of the reported installation.
