Throughout the year 2022, I keenly observed the actions of some of the few Members of Parliament who are really causing a change in their constituencies and even beyond. One out of the few who really caught my eye is Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency.
I have been wondering how he was and still able to do all the substantial social interventions in his constituency, especially in the areas of education and health. From the building of a surgical block in his constituency, collaborating with agencies/institutions/NGOs to embark on medical outreach programs, assisting health workers in his constituency, assisting newly posted teachers with teaching materials, etc. If I continue to list them I won't finish today. As for the interpersonal relationship with his constituents, I won't say much about it because it is even more than what any other constituent will wish for.
Interestingly, some of these social interventions even go beyond just his constituency. The kind of love and the willpower he has to cause a change in the society just goes beyond my imagination. It therefore was not surprising when Ghana Registered Nurses' & Midwives' Association - GRNMA honored him with the Special Impact Award during the 2022 Annual Awards Night.
I believe Ghana will be a better place for us all if all other Members of Parliament are able to do something similar in their various constituencies. Honorable, may your toil never be in vain. Mawu neyra wo
By the way, please teach your other colleagues how you are doing it so they can also do something better in their constituencies
