France head coach Didier Deschamps has unveiled his 25-man squad heading to Qatar for the 2022 World Cup. While the team features several prominent names, a number of familiar faces also failed to make the cut. Hugo Lloris, Kylian Mbappe, William Saliba, Karim Benzema, Olivier Giroud and Christopher Nkunku are some of the top names in the squad.

Incredibly, Manchester United centre-back Raphael Varane was also included in the team, despite initial fears he could miss the tournament through injury.

France squad: big names missing The duo of Paul Pogba and N'Golo Kante are the standout players not named in the

France squad for the World Cup. Despite playing a vital role in France's World Cup triumph four years ago in Russia, the two will play no role in the team's campaign to defend the crown. Pogba was left out due to a knee injury which has seen him miss the better part of the new season, while Kante is nursing a hamstring injury.

Below are the top names left out of the France squad:

Paul Pogba (Juventus)

N'Golo Kante (Chelsea)

Anthony Martial (Man United)

 Ferland Mendy (Real Madrid)

 Lucas Digne (Aston Villa)

 Wesley Fofana (Chelsea)

 Tanguy Ndombele (Napoli)

 Boubacar Kamara (Aston Villa)

Meanwhile, France are in Group D of the World Cup alongside Denmark, Tunisia, and Australia.
