Wizkid Becomes African Artiste With Most BMI Songwriting Award


Globally recognized singer and entertainer, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, known within the showbiz space as Wizkid has added another feat to his belt.

The Grammy winning musician, songwriter and performing artiste, Wizkid a.k.a The Big Eagle has bagged another global career milestone after his recent win at the 2022 BMI Awards which was held in London.

The BMI Film & TV Awards happens to be accolades annually presented by Broadcast Music, Inc. The event honors songwriters, composers alongside music publishers in various genres and the 2022 edition was held at Savoy Hotel in London on Monday 3rd October.

Nigeria’s Wizkid was one of the night’s main attraction after his monster records ‘Essence,’ which features Nigerian award-winning songstress Tems, and its remix, which features Canadian pop star Justin Bieber, were named to the “Most Played Songs Of The Year” list. This latest feat makes Wizkid the first African artist in history to win 5 BMI awards.

MEANWHILE: Mohammed Ismail Sherif Kwaku Frimpong, better known within the showbiz space as Black Sherif has shared the track-list for his upcoming debut album, ‘The Villian I Never Was’.

You would recall that, after serving the music community with ‘Soja‘ on Thursday, September 22, 2022, the award winning Ghanaian star and 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards nominee hinted of serving the music community with his first ever studio album.

Captioned, ‘The Villain I Never Was‘ the forthcoming body of work which happens to be a 14-tracked project will be available for purchase and streaming on all digital music stores from Thursday, October 6, 2022.

Announcing the album via the bird app, he penned; “It took me everything to give life to this body. The one thing in my life that I gave everything up for. There is life in this body, I hope it treats you good and speaks to you like I want it to. My debut album, “The Villain I Never Was”. Available on all stores on 06-10-2022.”

‘The Villian I Never Was’ houses his monster hit songs, ‘Kwaku The Traveler’ and ‘Second Sermon Remix’ as track 13 and 14 respectively alongside his recent jam, ‘Soja’ the 4th track. In an update of events, Black Sherif has finally shared the official track-list for the album.
