Driver Who Stole His Boss’ Expensive Property On His First Day At Work Remanded

On Monday, the Magistrate’s Court in Ikeja, Lagos State, remanded a 46-year-old driver, Samuel Harrison, for stealing his boss’s N8.1million property on his first day of work in the state’s Lekki area.

Harrison was arraigned before Magistrate O. O Fajana on two counts of conspiracy and stealing. The defendant was accused of stealing his employer’s car and other valuables totaling N 8.1 million.

Inspector Funmilayo Akinleye, the prosecutor, told the court that the defendant committed the offense on July 9 in the state’s Lekki area.

She claimed that the defendant was hired as her driver by Janet Essien. The defendant, on the other hand, fled with the car after dropping Essien off at the salon.

According to Akinleye, the defendant committed the crime on his first day of work, and he fled with two iPhones worth N600,000 and an Apple laptop worth N550,000 that were inside the car.

The prosecutor stated that the car and other valuables were worth N 8.1 million and that the offenses violated Sections 287 and 411 of the Lagos State Criminal Laws, 2015.

The defendant entered a guilty plea to the charges.

Magistrate Fajana remanded the defendant to the Kirikiri Correctional Centre and continued the case until September 28 for sentencing.
