A 25-year-old level 200 student of the Federal University, Dutsinma (FUDMA) identified as Najib Umar Shehu has been arrested by the police in Katsina State for allegedly killing his 60-year-old stepmother, Asiya Mohammed.
According to reports, on August 18th 2022, the suspect was engaged in a misunderstanding with the victim who is a retired civil servant and he attacked her with pestle at her residence in Ambassador Quarters.
SP Isah Gambo, the Katsina State Police Command in a statement revealed that the suspect went into the kitchen, grabbed a pestle, and hit the victim severally with it on her head and as a result of which she sustained head injuries and was confirmed dead by a medical doctor.
In the spur of the moment, the father who intervened in the matter also sustained some fractures in his legs after the suspect attacked him.
Umar has been arrested by the police and the said pestle he used in committing the outrageous crime has been taken by the police as exhibit as further investigations are ongoing.
